Creating a More Sustainable and Resilient Campus and Community
The Office of Sustainability is dedicated to advancing Butler’s commitment to environmental stewardship and making a meaningful difference for a healthier, more resilient future. We engage Butler students in every aspect of our work and strive to empower, mobilize, and support the campus community in becoming changemakers for environmental, economic and social well-being through our campus-wide initiatives, green programs, internships, interdisciplinary collaborations, workshops, and events.
This year we are aiming to make significant headway toward Butler’s sustainability commitments: Zero Waste by 2030, sustainably manage 70 acres of natural habitat by 2035, and carbon neutrality by 2050.
When you support the Office of Sustainability, you are supporting:
- Data-driven, cost-effective initiatives that promote energy efficiency, clean energy, waste reduction, and sustainable land management.
- Innovative educational experiences and hands-on learning through internships, volunteer opportunities, co-curricular activities, and integrated sustainability education.
- Behavior change and awareness for students, faculty, staff, neighbors, and visitors—on campus and beyond.
- A holistic approach to sustainability that integrates environmental care, social equity, and economic vitality.
- Butler’s leadership in climate action, minimizing climate impacts for both local and global communities.
Campus Sustainability Challenge
Accept the challenge to advance sustainability at Butler! If the Office of Sustainability receives 35 donations during Day of Giving, $2,500 will be unlocked thanks to the generosity of Chris Carlson. These funds will support critical waste reduction and rewilding initiatives that enhance our campus ecosystem and move us closer to achieving Butler’s sustainability goals.
