Connecting Students. Cultivating Belonging. Championing Well-Being.

The Division of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Student Affairs (DEISA) fosters a campus environment where every student feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive. We are committed to developing the whole student—supporting academic success, nurturing well-being, and preparing graduates for lives of leadership and meaningful contribution beyond Butler University.

Featured Day of Giving Challenge

On Day of Giving, gifts to the Vice President for DEISA Priority Needs Fund will directly strengthen support for veteran, first-generation, and commuter student populations.

Family Council member Glen Danahey and his wife Cathy have pledged to match gifts to this fund dollar-for-dollar up to $2,500 - doubling your impact.

Your generosity helps expand vital programs, enhance welcoming spaces, and ensure that every student has the resources and community they need to succeed.

Student Voices: Why Belonging Matters

“As a commuter at Butler, the commuter community has been the primary reason I feel genuinely connected to my peers and the university as a whole. The commuter lounge has become more than just a space between classes—it’s a place to decompress, build friendships, and experience a true sense of belonging on campus. This community has helped me navigate my first two years of college.” — Gerty ’28

“As a veteran student at Butler, the outreach and support here has been meaningful, and there is room to build even more connection and community. Strengthening spaces where veteran and dependent students can connect, share resources, and support one another makes navigating academic and personal transitions easier.” — Alex ’26

“Being a first-generation student can feel overwhelming at times, but the first-gen community at Butler makes a real difference. There are supportive people, programs, and spaces that remind you you’re not alone. It means so much to feel celebrated for breaking cycles and to have a community ready to support and grow with you.” — Jordan ’27

Make Your Impact Today

Belonging does not happen by chance — it is cultivated through intentional programs, supportive spaces, and meaningful relationships.

Your gift ensures that veteran, first-generation, commuter, and all Butler students have the resources and community they need to thrive.

Every contribution, of any size, to any area within the Division strengthens the programs, people, and spaces that advance connection, belonging, and well-being at Butler.
