Every year, the offices of Advancement, Alumni Engagement, and Career and Professional Services partner to take up to 30 students to Detroit over Fall Break. This trek engages our vibrant alumni community and introduces our students to this thriving city through networking receptions, employer site visits, and fun cultural activities. Past participants have landed internships and jobs through the connections made on the trek, which take a lot of coordination and resources. Invest in our students by contributing to this impactful experience. This year, gifts to the Detroit Trek will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $2,750.
Student Testimonials
The Detroit Trek is an opportunity unlike many others available to Butler students. The trip gave me the ability to meet with some Butler alumni from my home state that I still stay in contact with, and who are more than happy to help current Butler students with their college journey and beyond. The trip included a lot of amazing opportunities in Detroit that I would not have been able to experience any other way. Detroit is a fun and vibrant city, and the visits / activities that we did during the Trek only further proved that. Overall, the Detroit Trek gave me the chance to build strong relationships with alumni in the area as well as with companies in Detroit. I would recommend the Detroit Trek to anyone interested in living in, or even around, such a rapidly growing city. -Nick Cranmer '24
I loved the Detroit Trek and thought that it was a really cool experience offered by Butler. I enjoyed all of the different events and visits that were part of the trip. It was cool to explore the city a little while also being able to hear from alumni who have built strong careers in Detroit. All of the alumni were very nice and excited to talk to us about school and our future goals. Detroit is also home to many major companies that are great places to start a career. I would recommend this trip to all students looking to hear from successful Butler alumni in the industry that they one day hope to join. -Cooper Roth '25
