Thriving communities require a strong and passionate human workforce. In the Butler University College of Education (COE), we have been preparing excellent educators for nearly 100 years. As we look to the future, we envision a world where educators serve as inclusive collaborators and agents of change toward a just society. To that end, we aim to provide accessible, meaningful, and expansive professional preparation that enables educators to create conditions for individuals to reach their full potential and for schools and communities to thrive.
Through our immersive learning model rooted in practice in schools, communities, and clinics, we ensure our students are prepared from day one to lead in the classroom and in other education and community-based settings. We seek to elevate education-related and human-centered professions and the profile of the COE as we leverage our expertise in education to expand our impact to more individuals, students, schools, and communities.
How Your Gifts Make a Difference: Responding, Leading, Transforming
- We prepare inclusive and learner-centered educators through immersive and highly experiential preparation programs.
- We attract, develop, and retain faculty who are experienced practitioner scholars and respected experts in their fields. These faculty coach and mentor COE students through the program. Our people–our faculty and our staff—are our game changers and our true differentiators.
- With this relationship-centered approach, we develop future educators–coaches, trainers, counselors, teachers, leaders– who are attentive to the holistic wellbeing of the learners they serve and are prepared to respond to changes with flexibility, creativity, and innovation.
- We leverage our expertise to elevate the profile of the education profession and to inform and shape education policies and practices for the benefit of all individuals, their communities, students, and the educators who serve them.
