Record-breaking support for CCOM in 2024 continues to allow our students and faculty to benefit from your generosity and engagement with our programs.

Here's a look at ways your gifts have impacted the CCOM experience through Dawgs Supporting Dawgs #TheButlerWay

  • SLHS majors provided free speech, language, and hearing screenings for 55 students at the International School of Indiana (February 2024)
  • 12 sports media students traveled to New York City for a BIG EAST Career Fair over spring break (March 2024)
  • Two-Week “Butler in LA” program, where participating students produced a nearly 7-minute short film titled “Cycle” (May 2024)
  • 17 students traveled to Nashville with Professor Cutler Armstrong to explore careers in the music industry (November 2024)
  • Students working for Butler Sports Live produced nearly 80 live sporting events in 2024, including Football, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Lacrosse.
  • Provided additional support for five fountains, the student-run strategic communication agency, earning real-world experience with for-profit and non-profit companies in and around Indianapolis.
  • Dean’s Summer Fellowship research projects for students led by CCOM faculty.

Your engagement and commitment to our students—our future—empowers us to not only be the home of “Where Great Stories Begin” but where they continue! Our students succeed in the classroom and beyond because of your support. #GoDawgs!

Featured CCOM Initiatives

CCOM Participation Challenge
The Butler University College of Communication Dean’s Advisory Board has once again issued a challenge to CCOM students, alumni, families, and friends! If CCOM receives 350 gifts on Day of Giving, $10,000 in support for the college and its programs will be unlocked! Any gift to any fund in CCOM will count towards meeting this challenge, which will go towards enhancing the student and faculty experience in CCOM.

CCOM Experiential Learning Challenge
Support for the CCOM Experiential Learning Fund has enabled us to accelerate experiential learning for CCOM students and make opportunities available that otherwise would not be possible, nationwide and beyond. This year, 25 gifts to the CCOM Experiential Learning Fund will unlock an additional $2,500 in support, made possible by proud CCOM grad, Ramonna Robinson ’93.

80 for 80
Dr. William W. Neher and Dr. David H. Waite poured their heart and soul into Debate & Speech and what today is the College of Communication (CCOM). They continue to contribute their time, treasure, and talent to provide amazing opportunities for students and faculty within CCOM. Help us celebrate both their 80th birthdays and collective impact here at Butler by making a gift in their honor to either the David H. and Virginia M. Waite Scholarship or the Digital Communication, Ethics, and Democracy Gift Fund!
